Palau de la Música

The Palau de la Música opened on 25 April 1987 in the old Turia riverbed, level with the Alameda, in a building by José María García de Paredes. It is home to the Orquestra de València and the city's Banda Municipal, and its main room, the Sala Iturbi — close to 1,800 seats — spent five years closed after the structural damage found in 2018, reopening on 5 October 2023. The programme is mostly symphonic and chamber music, with jazz, early music and flamenco series.

Roig Arena

The Roig Arena is the biggest indoor venue in Valencia: around 15,600 seats in sports layout and up to 20,000 for a concert. It opened on 6 September 2025 with «Bravo, Nino», a tribute to the Valencian singer Nino Bravo. It stands in the Quatre Carreres district and, next to the main bowl, holds a far smaller Sala Auditorio — around 2,000 people — used for mid-sized shows.

Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía
Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía (Main Hall), Valencia
The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía is Valencia's opera house. It opened in October 2005 in the Santiago Calatrava building that closes the City of Arts and Sciences to the north, and it holds four rooms: the Sala Principal, with 1,412 seats across the stalls and four tiers of boxes; the Auditori; the Teatre Martín i Soler, seating around 400 below the level of the riverbed; and the Aula Magistral. It runs a season of opera, ballet, recitals and symphonic concerts.

Teatro Olympia

The Teatro Olympia opened on Calle San Vicente Mártir on 10 November 1915 with a performance of The Barber of Seville. From 1924 it spent more than fifty years as a cinema, returning to theatre in 1984. It holds around 900 seats across stalls, boxes and upper tiers, and today programmes mostly comedy, stand-up and touring companies.

Teatro Talía

Teatre Talia occupies a building on Carrer dels Cavallers, beside the church of Sant Nicolau, raised between 1924 and 1928 by the architect Francesc Xavier Goerlich for the Casa dels Obrers de Sant Vicent Ferrer. It takes its name from Thalia, the Greek muse of comedy. It is a small room of just over 240 stalls seats, run by the Generalitat since 1992, programming Valencian companies in both Spanish and Valencian.

Edificio Rialto
Plaça de l'Ajuntament, 17, València
The Rialto building presides over Plaça de l'Ajuntament: Cayetano Borso di Carminati designed it in 1935 and it was finished in 1939 — rationalist, almost devoid of ornament, built to house a 1,400-seat cinema. Refurbished in the 1980s, it is now home to Teatres de la Generalitat and the Filmoteca de València. This is where screenings return once the open-air summer season ends, many of them in the original language with subtitles.

L'Auditori de Torrent is the municipal auditorium of Torrent, a few kilometres from Valencia. It opened in January 1997 and seats 606. Its programme is built around cycles and festivals combining music of every genre with dance and theatre.

Spook

Spook is in Pinedo, on the Carretera del Riu, on the way out of Valencia towards El Saler. It opened in late 1984 and became one of the epicentres of the Ruta del Bakalao: it moved from electronic pop and EBM into techno and helped shape the style later known as makina. It programmes electronic music again at weekends, with club nights and international names.

XtraLrge Playground is on Gran Via de les Germanies, a few doors from Oven. It is two rooms with two different uses: XL works as a club for electropop, indie dance and urban sounds, while Sala Heineken is set up as a variety theatre with cultural programming. It runs early-evening tardeo sessions and many of its nights are free entry.

La3
Avenida Blasco Ibanez 111
La3 is on Avinguda de Blasco Ibáñez, though it started life on Carrer de Padre Porta. For ten years it was one of Valencia's key rooms for indie and alternative pop, until it closed in November 2020, unable to survive the pandemic shutdown. The venue reopened later and now runs almost every night across three rooms — Main Room, Oven Club and Sala2 — with a Funktion-One system; the programme ranges from chart hits to tech house.

MUCHO is on Carrer de Martí, steps from Gran Via del Marqués del Túria, and bills itself as the largest club in that stretch. It opens most weekend nights with sets from its resident DJs, and puts equal weight on music, fashion and atmosphere. Its diary is one of the busiest in the city.

La Rambleta opened in 2012 on the Bulevard Sud, beside the park of the same name and the Sant Marcel·lí neighbourhood, with more than 10,000 m² of facilities: a 700-seat theatre-auditorium, a café-théâtre, rehearsal rooms, multi-purpose exhibition spaces and a municipal library. It programmes performing arts, concerts, dance, exhibitions and family shows, and takes in a good share of the mid-sized tours that pass through the city.

Latex Club sits on Carrer de Carles Cervera, in Russafa, a step from the market and next door to Piccadilly. It opens Friday and Saturday into the small hours with electronic music — house, tech house and techno — split between local residents and guests, and in summer it adds street sessions on the same block.

PICCA is a club in Russafa, on Carrer dels Tomassos, with two rooms and sessions in the small hours of Friday and Saturday. The music runs from pop and chart hits to electronic sets, with weekly themed parties, and it is one of the rooms that made silent parties — dancing with headphones — popular in the city.

ROTO CLUB is on Avinguda d'Ausiàs March and has become Valencia's reference room for urban music. It has two spaces: the main one plays reggaeton, hip hop and trap, while Sala 2 covers afrobeats, amapiano, dancehall, R&B, Brazilian funk and afro house. It was set up as a safe space for that scene, and its bills feature producers and singers from across the Spanish circuit.

Miniclub shares its Blasco Ibáñez address with La3, next to Plaça d'Hondures, but programmes independently. It is a small room open Thursday to Saturday, given over to house, tech house, minimal and techno, with its own residents and names from the Spanish circuit such as T.Tommy and Coqui Selection.

Espai LaGranja sits in Parc de la Granja, in Burjassot, and is run by the Institut Valencià de Cultura as a resource space for dance and movement arts. More a creation and training centre than a presenting venue: research laboratories, mediation programmes and community dance pieces.

Oven Club began in 2012 as La3's electronic music brand and went independent in June 2018, taking over the former Nylon premises on Gran Via de les Germanies, across two floors with room for around 200. Its Wax series had already brought Jeff Mills, Maya Jane Coles and Laurent Garnier to La3's main room. It programmes house and tech house, runs its own label — Discos Malvarrosa — and much of its crowd is international.

Play Club has been on Carrer de Cuba, in Russafa, for over ten years. It has two rooms: the main one plays indie, pop and rock with touches of electronic music, and the second, named KIKI, plays reggaeton. It opens at weekends from one until seven in the morning and, depending on the night, entry is free until a certain hour.

16 Toneladas is a 300-capacity concert hall next to the bus station, a short walk from the old Turia riverbed. It opened in 2014 in a room built specifically for music and programmes mostly rock, garage, punk and indie, from Valencian bands to small-room international tours. Once the concert ends it carries on as a club.

Jagger Club sits on Gran Via del Marqués del Túria, in l'Eixample, and works in two shifts: cocktails and terrace for the early-evening tardeo, from five o'clock on Fridays and Saturdays, and club sessions Thursday to Saturday from half past ten at night. The Octubre Centre de Cultura Contemporània occupies the former El Siglo Valenciano department store on Carrer de Sant Ferran, bought by Acció Cultural del País Valencià in 2004 and opened to the public in 2006 as its headquarters. Neon numerals on the façade point to dates in Valencian history. It programmes book launches, lectures, screenings and small-format concerts, almost always in Valencian.

Jardins del Palau
Llit del Riu, Valencia
The Jardins del Palau are not a hall: they are the stretch of the Turia gardens around the Palau de la Música, and they work as an open-air stage for much of the year. They host the Jardins al Palau series during the Gran Fira in July, the ValenCirc circus festival in October and the Filmoteca's summer season. Almost everything is free and outdoors, so it is worth checking the forecast first.

CC Nave3 Ribes

CC Nave3 Ribes occupies one of the sheds Demetrio Ribes built in 1917 for the railway workshops of the Estació del Nord, now inside Parc Central. The city council restored it keeping the industrial structure intact and opened it as a cultural centre in 2022: a single open hall with retractable seating that takes theatre, film, concerts, workshops and neighbourhood activities, much of it free.

The Loco Club is a small room — 300 people — on Carrer de l'Erudit Orellana, in Extramurs, and in 2026 it turns twenty-five as one of the reference rooms for live music in Valencia. More than two hundred gigs a year pass through it — rock, punk, pop, soul, folk — and one night a month is kept for new talent.

CaixaForum València opened in June 2022 inside the Ágora, the Santiago Calatrava building that closes the City of Arts and Sciences, after a refit that gave it some 8,200 m². It has two exhibition halls, an auditorium, a bookshop and an education space, and pairs the large touring shows of the La Caixa Foundation with film seasons, concerts, lectures and family workshops.

Jimmy Glass is Valencia's jazz club: it opened in 1991 on Carrer del Baix, in El Carme, with the blue walls and low light of the classic rooms. It programmes almost nightly, mixing the Valencian scene with international tours that stop here for the small format. In 2018 DownBeat magazine listed it among the best jazz clubs in the world.

Barraca opened in 1965 at Les Palmeres, on the Sueca coast a few metres from the beach, and is regarded as the forerunner of the Ruta Destroy — the circuit of clubs that defined Valencian nightlife in the eighties and nineties, of which it is the longest-running survivor. It runs almost every Saturday, now with international techno and house headliners and the occasional revival night from that era.

CC Escorxador occupies the old Cabanyal slaughterhouse, a 1910 building on Carrer de Sant Pere that the city council restored keeping the original roof, pillars, tiling and marble counter. It now works as a neighbourhood cultural centre and also holds the Cabanyal's archive and memory interpretation centre; it programmes workshops, concerts, theatre, film and exhibitions, nearly always free.

Jardí Botànic

The Jardí Botànic is the botanical garden of the Universitat de València: it has stood on Carrer de Quart since 1802, next to the towers of the same name, and has been listed as a historic garden since 2006. Beyond the collections, the shade house and the glasshouses, in spring and summer it hosts open-air concerts — Sons al Botànic, the jazz series — and science outreach events.

Teatro La PlaZeta opened in November 2019 on Carrer de San Bruno, between the Torrefiel, Orriols and Sant Antoni neighbourhoods, with the idea of bringing big-room programming to the northern districts. It seats more than 750 people and its bill is mostly comedy and stand-up, plus family theatre, music and live-scored film nights at weekends.

La Rítmica opened in late October 2025 on Camí de la Marjal in Albal, south of the metropolitan area, after a season running as a pop-up. It is a techno club with a Void Acoustics system, its own residents and long Saturday sessions, and it has quickly become one of the reference rooms of the Valencian electronic scene.

The Carme Teatre company was founded in 1993 and has kept its own room on Carrer de Gregori Gea, in Campanar, ever since. The first Lys opened in 1953 and burned down in an arson attack in March 1989; the current fourteen-screen multiplex opened in June 2001. Centre del Carme Cultura Contemporània

Centre del Carme occupies the former Carmelite convent founded in 1281, which gave the surrounding neighbourhood its name. Two cloisters survive inside — one Gothic, built across the 14th and 15th centuries, and one Renaissance — along with the chapter house and the refectory. It is now run by the Consorci de Museus de la Comunitat Valenciana as a contemporary culture centre, with several exhibitions running at once and free admission.

Every summer Valencia's Filmoteca moves from its Rialto home to the gardens of the Palau de la Música, in the old Turia riverbed, and screens outdoors. Many sessions are shown in the original version with subtitles, and tickets cost considerably less than at a regular cinema.

L’Eliana
L'Eliana, L'Eliana
L'Eliana is not a venue but the Camp de Túria town where these screenings happen, half an hour from Valencia on metro line 2. Most belong to the Cinema d'Estiu, which has screened outdoors on Avinguda del Parc almost every summer night since 1976; in September it is joined by L'Eliana Cinema, a short film festival with a strand shot in 72 hours. The exact spot changes from session to session.

Plaça de Nàpols i Sicília is not a venue: it is a square in the Seu-Xerea neighbourhood, in Ciutat Vella, opened between 1993 and 1995 as part of the old-town renewal plan. It shows up on the agenda because it hosts free open-air programming, such as the performances of the contemporary circus festival Migrats Circ.

Sagunt
Sagunt, Sagunt
Sagunt is not a venue: it is the home of Sagunt a Escena, the festival the Institut Valencià de Cultura has programmed every August since 1984 in the town's Roman theatre, 30 kilometres north of Valencia. The theatre was built around AD 50 and in 1896 became the first building in Spain to be declared a national monument. Some performances also spread to other spaces around town.
