Roig Arena

The Roig Arena is the biggest indoor venue in Valencia: around 15,600 seats in sports layout and up to 20,000 for a concert. It opened on 6 September 2025 with «Bravo, Nino», a tribute to the Valencian singer Nino Bravo. It stands in the Quatre Carreres district and, next to the main bowl, holds a far smaller Sala Auditorio — around 2,000 people — used for mid-sized shows.

The Palau de la Música opened on 25 April 1987 in the old Turia riverbed, level with the Alameda, in a building by José María García de Paredes. It is home to the Orquestra de València and the city's Banda Municipal, and its main room, the Sala Iturbi — close to 1,800 seats — spent five years closed after the structural damage found in 2018, reopening on 5 October 2023. The programme is mostly symphonic and chamber music, with jazz, early music and flamenco series.

The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía is Valencia's opera house. It opened in October 2005 in the Santiago Calatrava building that closes the City of Arts and Sciences to the north, and it holds four rooms: the Sala Principal, with 1,412 seats across the stalls and four tiers of boxes; the Auditori; the Teatre Martín i Soler, seating around 400 below the level of the riverbed; and the Aula Magistral. It runs a season of opera, ballet, recitals and symphonic concerts.

Teatre Talia occupies a building on Carrer dels Cavallers, beside the church of Sant Nicolau, raised between 1924 and 1928 by the architect Francesc Xavier Goerlich for the Casa dels Obrers de Sant Vicent Ferrer. It takes its name from Thalia, the Greek muse of comedy. It is a small room of just over 240 stalls seats, run by the Generalitat since 1992, programming Valencian companies in both Spanish and Valencian.

La Rambleta opened in 2012 on the Bulevard Sud, beside the park of the same name and the Sant Marcel·lí neighbourhood, with more than 10,000 m² of facilities: a 700-seat theatre-auditorium, a café-théâtre, rehearsal rooms, multi-purpose exhibition spaces and a municipal library. It programmes performing arts, concerts, dance, exhibitions and family shows, and takes in a good share of the mid-sized tours that pass through the city.

The Teatro Olympia opened on Calle San Vicente Mártir on 10 November 1915 with a performance of The Barber of Seville. From 1924 it spent more than fifty years as a cinema, returning to theatre in 1984. The Rialto building presides over Plaça de l'Ajuntament: Cayetano Borso di Carminati designed it in 1935 and it was finished in 1939 — rationalist, almost devoid of ornament, built to house a 1,400-seat cinema. Refurbished in the 1980s, it is now home to Teatres de la Generalitat and the Filmoteca de València. This is where screenings return once the open-air summer season ends, many of them in the original language with subtitles.

The Centro Cultural La Reina 121 is a municipal neighbourhood cultural centre in the Cabanyal, opened in May 2024 in a listed building on Calle de la Reina. The restoration recovered the inner courtyard linking its two façades, on La Reina and La Barraca streets, and added a rooftop viewpoint looking inland over the neighbourhood. Its programme is put together with local groups and is free: social theatre, circus, exhibitions on the Cabanyal's memory, acoustic concerts and workshops.

16 Toneladas is a 300-capacity concert hall next to the bus station, a short walk from the old Turia riverbed. It opened in 2014 in a room built specifically for music and programmes mostly rock, garage, punk and indie, from Valencian bands to small-room international tours. Once the concert ends it carries on as a club.

Centre Cultural Escorxador

CC Escorxador occupies the old Cabanyal slaughterhouse, a 1910 building on Carrer de Sant Pere that the city council restored keeping the original roof, pillars, tiling and marble counter. It now works as a neighbourhood cultural centre and also holds the Cabanyal's archive and memory interpretation centre; it programmes workshops, concerts, theatre, film and exhibitions, nearly always free.

Avenida Blasco Ibanez 111
La3 is on Avinguda de Blasco Ibáñez, though it started life on Carrer de Padre Porta. For ten years it was one of Valencia's key rooms for indie and alternative pop, until it closed in November 2020, unable to survive the pandemic shutdown. The venue reopened later and now runs almost every night across three rooms — Main Room, Oven Club and Sala2 — with a Funktion-One system; the programme ranges from chart hits to tech house.

The Ateneo Mercantil de Valencia is a cultural institution founded in 1879 to train shop and office workers, based on Plaza del Ayuntamiento in an eight-storey classicist building whose construction Cayetano Borso di Carminati and Emilio Artal oversaw between 1935 and 1941. Inside are a 475-seat theatre, halls decorated with frescoes, such as the Sorolla and Stolz rooms, and a library. Its programme includes concerts, talks and candlelit Candlelight concerts.

Spook

Spook is in Pinedo, on the Carretera del Riu, on the way out of Valencia towards El Saler. It opened in late 1984 and became one of the epicentres of the Ruta del Bakalao: it moved from electronic pop and EBM into techno and helped shape the style later known as makina. It programmes electronic music again at weekends, with club nights and international names.

CC Nave3 Ribes occupies one of the sheds Demetrio Ribes built in 1917 for the railway workshops of the Estació del Nord, now inside Parc Central. The city council restored it keeping the industrial structure intact and opened it as a cultural centre in 2022: a single open hall with retractable seating that takes theatre, film, concerts, workshops and neighbourhood activities, much of it free.

The Estadi Ciutat de València has been Levante UD's ground since September 1969, built on 40,000 m² of market gardens in Sant Llorenç, the neighbourhood locals call Orriols. It was named Estadio Antonio Román and later Nou Estadi before taking its current name in 1999. It seats around 25,000, and a 2020 refit gave it a new roof, video scoreboards and lighting. Tram line 6 stops right outside.

Jimmy Glass is Valencia's jazz club: it opened in 1991 on Carrer del Baix, in El Carme, with the blue walls and low light of the classic rooms. It programmes almost nightly, mixing the Valencian scene with international tours that stop here for the small format. In 2018 DownBeat magazine listed it among the best jazz clubs in the world.

Mestalla has been Valencia CF's stadium since 1923, on Avenida de Suecia, and takes its name from the irrigation channel that once ran beside its south stand. It seats 49,419, and its stands are so steep that The Telegraph ranked them among the most sharply raked in Europe. It hosted matches at the 1982 World Cup and the Barcelona 92 Olympic football tournament. The club has announced its move to the Nou Mestalla, on Avenida de las Corts Valencianes, for summer 2027.

MUCHO is on Carrer de Martí, steps from Gran Via del Marqués del Túria, and bills itself as the largest club in that stretch. It opens most weekend nights with sets from its resident DJs, and puts equal weight on music, fashion and atmosphere. Its diary is one of the busiest in the city.

In the Sala Pinazo, which has its own entrance, you can see the foundations of the medieval city wall. It programmes talks, guided visits and family workshops.

Sala Russafa is a 175-seat independent theatre on Carrer de Dénia, in the heart of Russafa, opened in February 2011 by the Arden Producciones company in a former industrial spare-parts warehouse; according to the venue, the neighbourhood had gone more than thirty years without a theatre. It programmes contemporary and family theatre, Friday late-night stand-up under the Las Golfas de Russafa banner, and each season hands out awards voted by the audience in a ballot box.

Teatro Flumen is an independent theatre of some 400 seats on Carrer de Gregori Gea, in Les Tendetes (Campanar). It began as a continuous-screening cinema, became an art-house venue with a summer terrace, closed in 2007 and reopened as a theatre in December 2010. Its bill is mainstream: musicals and tribute shows, comedy, magic, family shows and touring plays with familiar faces. In June and July its terrace opens on show days.

The Ciudad Deportiva de Paterna is Valencia CF's training ground and academy, known as «La Academia»: 180,000 m² on the outskirts of Paterna, opened in 1992 on land the club bought in 1974. The first team trains here, and the Estadio Antonio Puchades hosts the home games of Valencia CF Femenino, in Liga F, and the reserve side, VCF Mestalla. Since 2013 the stadium has carried the name of Antonio Puchades, one of the club's historic players.

Burning House is a cocktail bar with a stage on Carrer d'Eugènia Viñes, on the Cabanyal seafront, with live music from Wednesday to Sunday. It opened in September 2025 in the former Marino Jazz premises, run by part of the team behind the Ruge Rosario festival, and programmes mostly jazz and world music: cumbia, Cuban son, Persian folk. The first Lys opened in 1953 and burned down in an arson attack in March 1989; the current fourteen-screen multiplex opened in June 2001. Repvblicca is one of the big concert venues of the Valencia area, on the Mislata industrial estate next to the V-30 ring road. Its first era ended in 2007; after spells under other names, the promoter Territorio Musical revived it in 2015, and Motörhead, Judas Priest, Manu Chao, Leiva and Izal have all played here. Sealed off in 2024 during a legal dispute with the town council, it reopened in February 2025. The nearest metro is Mislata-Almassil, about a ten-minute walk.

Rock City is a rock concert venue on the El Barranc industrial estate in Almàssera, just north of Valencia, with a terrace and rehearsal rooms. It opened in August 2011, set up by Agustín Ruiz «Kono», former drummer of Transfer, and Peter Murphy, Barricada, Lordi, Marky Ramone and Gojira have all played its stage. It programmes rock, punk and metal on Spanish tours; Almàssera station on metro line 3 is about a ten-minute walk away.

Teatro Rialto is a public theatre of the Generalitat on Plaça de l'Ajuntament, run by the Institut Valencià de Cultura. The Auditorio Mar Rojo is the amphitheatre-style hall inside the Oceanogràfic: 482 seats facing a stage backed by a 16-metre aquarium filled with Red Sea marine life. By day it shows 4D films and a mixed-reality experience; at night it hosts the hour-long Candlelight concerts. The Oceanogràfic, designed by Félix Candela, opened in 2003 in the City of Arts and Sciences and is one of the largest aquariums in Europe.

Centre del Carme Cultura Contemporània

Centre del Carme occupies the former Carmelite convent founded in 1281, which gave the surrounding neighbourhood its name. Two cloisters survive inside — one Gothic, built across the 14th and 15th centuries, and one Renaissance — along with the chapter house and the refectory. It is now run by the Consorci de Museus de la Comunitat Valenciana as a contemporary culture centre, with several exhibitions running at once and free admission.

La Casa de la Mar is a concert venue in Alboraia, in a converted industrial building about a hundred metres from Patacona beach, with terraces and food. It has two rooms: the main one plays indie, pop and rock with touches of electronic music, and the second, named KIKI, plays reggaeton. It began in the 1920s as the home of the Patronato Musical of Pueblo Nuevo del Mar, later became the El Musical cinema, and in 2004 was rebuilt inside behind its original façade, with its triumphal arch and the tallest door in the city. It has 403 seats and since 2015 has programmed theatre, dance, circus and music, from copla to the Banda Simfònica Municipal and the Volumens festival.

Ca Revolta is a self-managed community and cultural centre in a 15th–16th-century palace on Carrer de Santa Teresa, in Velluters, which the collective bought with a loan and restored with its own hands. It opened in October 2000 and in its first twenty years hosted some 800 concerts, 1,300 theatre and dance performances and 1,450 talks. Today it programmes punk, rock and indie, theatre and debates and, every Monday, New Orleans jazz for donations.

La Rossa is a bookshop in Benimaclet devoted to books written by women («llibres en femení»), opened in 2015 by Alodia Clemente. The González Martí National Museum of Ceramics occupies the Palace of the Marqués de Dos Aguas, the one with the alabaster portal carved by Ignacio Vergara around 1740 to a design by Hipólito Rovira.
