Which transport card is best for me in Valencia?

It depends on three things: how many days you stay, how many journeys you make a day and whether you take the metro to or from the airport. This table sums up the options at current official prices; below it, a calculator does the maths for you.

How does the SUMA 10 work?

The SUMA 10 is ten journeys loaded onto your SUMA card for a given zone combination. The whole city is zone A, so a zone A SUMA 10 is all you need to get around Valencia. It's valid on EMT buses, the metro, the tram, MetroBús and Renfe Cercanías trains alike.

One journey is deducted each time you validate. Several people travelling together can use the same card (up to 15 validations in a row), and you can top it up ten journeys at a time.

The zone A SUMA 10 doesn't cover the airport, which carries a supplement. For that journey you need the AB+ SUMA 10, a SUMA T+ or a €4.80 single ticket.

SUMA T and SUMA T+: unlimited travel by the hour

These are unlimited-travel passes for one person for 24, 48 or 72 hours from first validation. The SUMA T covers zone AB (the city and nearby metropolitan area) and the SUMA T+ adds the airport. Unlike the SUMA 10, they can't be shared: each traveller needs their own.

• The hours count from your first validation, not from when you buy it.

What if I'm only going to use the bus?

An EMT single ticket costs €2.00 and is bought on board or in the EMTicket app. EMT also has its own ten-trip Bonobús (€5.10 until 31 December 2026, plus €2 for the card), valid only on its buses. For visitors the zone A SUMA 10 is usually better: it costs almost the same and also works on the metro and tram.

Is the Valencia Tourist Card worth it?

The 24, 48 or 72-hour Valencia Tourist Card costs €17, €24 or €30 and includes unlimited public transport in zone AB+ (with the airport), free entry to 14 municipal museums and monuments —such as the Silk Exchange, the Serranos and Quart towers or the Fallas Museum—, a tapa with a drink and discounts on attractions like the Oceanogràfic.

For transport alone it doesn't pay off: the equivalent SUMA T+ costs half as much. It starts to make sense if you'll visit several paid municipal museums. Bear in mind that many of those museums are already free on Sundays and public holidays.

If museums are your thing and you don't need transport, the 7-day Tourist Card also includes the Cathedral and IVAM.

What is TuiN and is it useful for tourists?

TuiN is a Metrovalencia pay-as-you-go ticket that deducts each fare (from €0.80) and stops charging once you pass a monthly spending threshold. It's designed for residents: the card must be registered on Metrovalencia's website and collected in person at its offices (Xàtiva, Colón, Benimaclet or Alacant). For a short visit it isn't worth it; use a SUMA 10 or a SUMA T.

Where can I buy a SUMA card?

At the ticket machines in any metro and tram station (with a multilingual menu; pay by bank card or cash) and at Metrovalencia offices. The anonymous cardboard card costs €1.10 and the plastic one €2.20. You top it up at the same machines.

• Keep the card: it's reusable and saves you buying another.
• On the metro you validate on entry and exit; on trams and buses, only when boarding.
• Travelling without a valid ticket means a €100 fine plus the fare.

Do children pay on public transport?

On the metro and tram, children under 10 travel free when accompanied by an adult with a valid ticket (maximum two children per adult). The Valencia Tourist Card has a child rate up to age 12.
