What is Simon Boccanegra Perspectives
Simon Boccanegra Perspectives is a free encounter organised by Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía in collaboration with Amics de l’Òpera i de les Arts de la Comunitat Valenciana. Held on 26 February 2027 in the Aula Magistral, the session analyses the musical and dramatic elements of Simon Boccanegra, Giuseppe Verdi’s opera featured in the 2026-2027 season. According to the official website, the format allows attendees to engage in dialogue with the production’s protagonists to explore its historical and artistic context.
Programme and participants
The event focuses on dissecting Verdi’s work, composed in 1857 and revised in 1881, regarded as a prime example of political opera due to its themes of power and betrayal set in 14th-century Genoa. While Palau de les Arts has not disclosed the speakers, such encounters typically feature singers, stage directors, or musicologists involved in the production. The session is designed for the general public, particularly those keen to uncover the opera’s intricacies before attending its staged performances.
Access and requirements
Admission is free, but Palau de les Arts has announced that tickets will be released on 15 February 2027 at 12:00 PM. It remains unclear whether there is a limited capacity or if invitations must be collected. For directions, visit the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía venue page.
