Lohengrin in Valencia: production and cast
Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía presents Lohengrin, the opera by Richard Wagner, on 10 December 2026. This production is directed by Damiano Michieletto, renowned for his visual and psychological approach to opera. The musical direction is led by Sir Mark Elder, making his Wagner debut at Les Arts. British tenor David Butt Philip, acclaimed for his interpretation of this role, takes on the lead.
Lohengrin is one of Wagner’s most iconic operas, composed in 1848. The libretto, written by the composer himself, draws on German medieval legends and explores themes such as national identity, faith, and the tension between the earthly and the divine. The work is structured in three acts and has an approximate duration of 3 hours and 30 minutes, including intervals.
