What Hard to explain investigates
Hard to explain is a scenic investigation that delves into identity and crisis through body, word, and sound. Julia Zac observes herself on stage, experimenting with different ways of appearing and questioning the possibility of self-recognition in times of uncertainty. According to La Mutant, the proposal uses ambiguity as a tool to explore what defines us and what brings us together in the scenic space.
Who is involved
The piece is created and performed by Julia Zac, who takes on the role of herself in an exercise of performative autofiction. After her intervention, Paul Loubet transforms the space with a cyberpunk soundtrack selection, evoking suburbs, urban ruins, and low-resolution futures. The work is part of La Mutant’s autumn programme, a space dedicated to contemporary live arts.
