Contemporary Art in 16 Valencia Galleries

The XIV Abierto Valencia turns the city into a showcase for contemporary art for ten days. Organised by the Asociación de Galerías de Arte Contemporáneo de la Comunitat Valenciana (LAVAC), the festival combines exhibitions, guided tours and parallel activities in 16 associated galleries, with free entry to all spaces.

Key Dates and Times

The event is structured in two phases:

  • From 17 to 20 September: joint gallery openings and first routes.
  • From 23 to 26 September: urban routes promoted by the Valencia City Council.

Friday 18 September is the central day, with all galleries open from 17:00 to 21:00 and activities extended until 22:00. During the festival, opening times are:

  • Tuesday to Saturday: 10:00-20:00.
  • Sundays: 10:00-15:00.

These routes, designed to explore art across different neighbourhoods, include stops at venues like the Centre del Carme, where the closing event will take place on Sunday 20 September at 12:00, featuring award ceremonies and a musical performance.

In addition to exhibitions, the programme includes:

  • Talks: On Saturday 19 September at 19:00, a debate with international curators at the Centre de Arte Hortensia Herrero (CAHH).
  • Guided Tours: The same Saturday, at 11:00, a visit to the Colección José Luis Soler at Bombas Gens, and at 12:30, a tour of the exhibition «Breve historia de una pasión» at the Centre del Carme.
