The exhibition that recovers a forgotten history
Cigarreres valencianes: l’última generació is an exhibition that highlights the role of women who worked in Valencia’s tobacco industry during the 20th century. Far from romantic clichés, the show focuses on their reality: their daily efforts, their fight for equality, and their ability to balance work and family in a historical context marked by precarity.
Through documents, photographs, and testimonies, the exhibition reconstructs the lives of these women, considered unsung heroines of industrial Valencia. A story that, until now, had been overlooked in collective memory.
Where and when
The exhibition is held at La Reina 121, a cultural space located at Calle La Reina 121, 46011 Valencia. Entry is free and will be available from 6 September 2026. Opening hours can be checked on the venue’s page.
