What is the Marató de Monòlegs
The VII Marató de Monòlegs is a staged reading organised by the Associació Valenciana d’Escriptores i Escriptors Teatrals (AVEET), featuring six short texts by Valencian playwrights. Each monologue, limited to 6,000 characters and 10 minutes, explores themes such as care, violence, family bonds, and contemporary society, selected from the 116 submissions to the association’s open call. Supported by the Ajuntament d’Alzira, the initiative aims to decentralise culture and showcase emerging and established voices in the Valencian scene.
Who is taking part
The 2026 edition features three female and three male playwrights from AVEET, whose names have not been disclosed. The texts are performed by a team of 20 performing arts professionals, including actors, actresses, and technicians, bringing the stories to life in a single session. The format, blending humour and reflection, has previously been hosted at venues such as the Universitat Jaume I in Castelló and the L’Escorxador cultural centre in Elche.
Schedule and access
The event takes place on 22 October 2026 at 19:30 at Gran Teatre d’Alzira. Admission is free until the venue reaches full capacity. The monologues are performed without intermission, with an estimated total duration of 90 minutes.
