What’s being performed
Sangre is a free and contemporary adaptation of Bodas de Sangre, the iconic play written by Federico García Lorca in 1931. While preserving the tragic structure of the original—inspired by Greek tragedies—this version reworks the characterisation of the female roles. A live band takes on the role of the chorus, narrating the story and heightening its dramatic impact.
The production explores how Lorca’s work might have evolved in the 21st century, questioning whether the tragic ending would remain or if the characters’ choices could alter its course.
