A contemporary reinterpretation of Valencian fandango
Inka Romaní, dancer and choreographer, brings her production Fandango Reloaded to Teatre El Musical (TEM), a show that explores collective memory through dance. The 50-minute piece draws from traditional Valencian fandango to explore its potential as an urban and contemporary language. Romaní creates a dialogue between the popular and the modern, questioning how these dances could reclaim their role as a community tool in the present.
Choreography and concept
The work is structured as an "archaeological investigation" where movement acts as a trigger for a shared ritual. Romaní blends traditional dance vocabularies with urban techniques, crafting a choreography that oscillates between the precision of folklore and the freedom of street dance. The result is a production that not only pays homage to cultural heritage but also speculates on its future.
The performance is part of the Dansa Metropolitana programme and aligns with a creative approach that seeks to connect intangible heritage with contemporary artistic practices. Tickets are priced at a flat rate of €12 and are already on sale on platforms like Notikumi.
