What «Ruega por nosotras» is about
Set in 1974, «Ruega por nosotras» follows Ana, a 19-year-old from Barcelona whose wealthy family considers her a rebellious girl. After a night-time escapade, her father hands her over to the Patronato de Protección a la Mujer, an institution for so-called "fallen women or those at risk of falling".
Ana is sent to Madrid and confined to a reformatory run by nuns, where she endures a harsh disciplinary regime. To survive, she leans on her friendship with other inmates, particularly Sole, a lively country girl with whom she quickly bonds. This connection is what keeps Ana going during her confinement.
