'El techo amarillo': Memory and Struggle on Screen
The XVI Ciclo Cine y Derechos Humanos, organised by Amnistía Internacional València and the Aula de Cinema de la Universitat de València, will screen the documentary El techo amarillo (2022), directed by Isabel Coixet, on 17 November 2026. The film tells the true story of nine women who, in 2018, publicly denounced the abuse and harassment they suffered at the hands of two of their superiors in a Spanish institution. Through interviews and archival material, the documentary exposes the legal and social challenges faced by victims when breaking their silence, as well as the consequences of their courage.
A Space for Debate
After the screening, which will take place in the Aula Magna of the Centre Cultural La Nau, a panel discussion will be held with the participation of legal experts, activists, and human rights specialists. These open conversations, a hallmark of the festival, aim to analyse the film’s political and social context, as well as its implications for the fight for equality and justice. The format encourages collective reflection, allowing attendees to engage with questions and comments.
