What is Menudets a l'Horta
Menudets a l'Horta is a workshop for children, the "menudets", held at Villa Indiano that introduces them to agriculture and the vegetables of València's market gardens. It is led by Jose, a farmer, agricultural engineer, and owner of the urban vegetable gardens adjacent to Villa Indiano, so the explanations come from someone who works those plots firsthand.
The organisers present it as their favourite workshop for the little ones, with the idea that children get to know firsthand the most famous vegetable pantry in the area.
What happens in the workshop
The Menudets a l'Horta workshop begins with a walk from Villa Indiano to the nearby urban vegetable gardens. There, Jose explains to the children various topics related to València's market gardens and the crops currently planted.
Then comes the practical part: participants plant or harvest vegetables. What is done in each session depends on the time of year and the crops present in the gardens, so in November the activity is adapted to what is in the ground at that time.
Prices and tickets
