What is «La marjal de l’IVAM»
«La marjal de l’IVAM» is an artistic installation by Reyes Pe that reinterprets the ecosystem of Valencia’s Albufera through textile art and sensory play. Designed for children aged 0 to 4, the space turns the museum into a playground museum: a place for playful exploration, rest, and curiosity, where early childhood takes centre stage. According to IVAM, the project is part of Museu amfibi, an initiative that brings contemporary art to the youngest audiences through experimentation and free play.
Who is it for
The installation is aimed at families and nursery schools. Family sessions, called Un marjal familiar, are available from Tuesday to Friday from 12:00 until the museum closes (no booking required) and on weekends, public holidays, and school breaks (booking required). For educational centres, IVAM offers La marjal de l’IVAM: group visits in the mornings, lasting one hour, from 20 November 2026 to 18 June 2027.
Programme and activities
In addition to the permanent play space, the programme includes workshops such as Un museu blanet que fa croac!, led by artist Reyes Pe herself. The family opening, featuring Reyes Pe and Fausto Furioso, will take place on 19 November 2026 and mark the start of the activities, which will run until 10 October 2027. IVAM highlights that the space combines art, pedagogy, and ecology, inviting children to interact with textile pieces and discover the cultural heritage of Valencia’s Albufera.
Access and requirements
Access to the family space does not require booking from Tuesday to Friday but is required on weekends and public holidays. For school visits, advance booking is necessary via the IVAM website. Check how to get there on the IVAM (Institut Valencià d’Art Modern) venue page.
