What the workshop is
«¡No hay color! Cuerpos de luz y color en el museo» is a family contemporary dance workshop designed for children aged 2 to 6 and their families. The activity turns IVAM’s galleries into a sensory exploration space where movement, light, and colour interact with the artworks. According to the museum, the aim is to «discover contemporary art from a playful perspective, paying attention to what appears or transforms depending on position, gaze, or light».
How it unfolds
Each session begins with a tour of IVAM’s exhibitions, where participants use their own bodies as tools for perception. Through dance and play, families engage with the artworks, observing how light and colour alter the visual experience. The workshop concludes with the creation of a collective piece based on improvisation and the stimuli from the galleries, as explained by the mediators on the IVAM website.
Who leads it
The workshop is designed and mediated by Marta García Navarro and Paula Romero Raga, professionals in contemporary dance with backgrounds in artistic education and cultural mediation. Both propose dynamics that connect movement with observing the surroundings, encouraging active participation from children.
Access and requirements
The activity is aimed at families with children aged 2 to 6. No prior experience in dance or art is required. Check how to get there on the IVAM (Institut Valencià d’Art Modern) venue page.
