What’s on stage
«El retrato de Dorian Gray» is a theatrical adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s eponymous novel, brought to the stage in Valencian. Produced by the Institut Valencià de Cultura (IVC), the play transports audiences into the story of Dorian, a young man obsessed with his own beauty and youth, through a tour de force performance by actress Àngels Gonyalons. According to the company, the piece reflects on narcissism and the obsession with image—topics that resonate in today’s society.
Cast and crew
The lead role is played by Àngels Gonyalons, who portrays Oscar Wilde and brings all the novel’s characters to life. She is accompanied by a male vocal trio and a live quintet, enhancing the production’s theatrical and musical dimension. The show is directed by the IVC team as part of its in-house scenic programming.
