What the exhibition proposes
“Todo lo sólido se desvanece en el aire” is a collective exhibition curated by Diana Padrón that addresses the crisis of stability in the digital era. Taking Valencia as its starting point, it explores themes such as remote work, labour precarity, and the multitasking logic through works by eight national and international artists. The formats include photography, sculpture, installation, video, and sound art, with pieces that question the relationship between the physical and the virtual.
Who is participating
The exhibition brings together María Alcaide, Pablo Capitán del Río, Denis Darzacq, Natalia Domínguez, Miquel García, Cristina Garrido, Laura Llaneli, Lemos and Lehmann, and Lorenzo Sandoval. Highlighting Hyper 1 (2007-2010) by Darzacq, a photographic series capturing bodies in suspension as a metaphor for forced adaptation to changing work environments. According to the Consorci de Museus, the selected artists represent “contemporary artistic research in dialogue with the urban”.
Opening hours and access
The exhibition occupies Sala 2 of Centre del Carme and can be visited until 13 December 2026. Entry is free. Check how to get there on the Centre del Carme Cultura Contemporània venue page.
Context and curatorship
The exhibition draws on philosopher Marshall Berman’s premise of modernity as “all that is solid melts into air” to analyse how virtuality and the gig economy have redefined domestic and work spaces. Curated by Diana Padrón, it links these reflections to Valencia, presented as a case study in works that combine artistic research and social critique.
