Memory as sculpture
Sandra Mar transforms the ephemeral into matter in Que mi deseo me sirva, a solo exhibition kicking off the Abierto Valencia 2026 programme at Galería Rosa Santos. The artist draws from an intimate ritual: writing to capture sensations that time erases—the texture of skin, a gesture, a caress—before translating them into sculpture, seeking a physical language that engages with the intangible.
The exhibition brings together works created through this process, where personal diaries become moulds and sculpture serves as a vehicle to preserve what would otherwise fade. Mar explores the tension between the desire to eternalise a moment and the impossibility of doing so, using materials that oscillate between fragility and permanence.
