What is Me voy and why it’s Carles Sans’ farewell
Me voy is the show with which Carles Sans, co-founder of the legendary group Tricicle, ends his stage career after more than 45 years. Following decades of success with Tricicle and his solo work ¡Por fin solo!, the actor presents a theatrical monologue—not a conventional stand-up—where he dismantles societal expectations around retirement with gestural humour and wit. Directed by José Corbacho, the play combines Sans’ signature physicality with a personal narrative blending everyday moments, impressions, and fantasies, ensuring the audience laughs 4 to 5 times per minute, according to the company.
Who performs and what they bring to the show
The sole performer is Carles Sans, renowned for his ability to communicate without words, a skill honed during his time with Tricicle. In Me voy, the actor ironically revisits activities like volunteering, forced hobbies, or organised trips, using his visual and physical style to connect with the audience. The show also pays tribute to his legacy: his previous solo performance, ¡Por fin solo!, was seen by 160,000 spectators across 380 shows in 146 locations.
