What’s being screened and what’s it about
The film «In Fabric» (2018), directed by Peter Strickland, is a psychological horror thriller that follows the curse of a red dress in a British department store. With a surreal aesthetic and fragmented narrative, Strickland explores consumerism, obsession, and the supernatural through dreamlike imagery and the dark humour characteristic of his filmography. The screening is part of the «II Sesión Expandida» cycle, curated by Las Entendidas, which aims to activate the museum as a space for dialogue between cinema and contemporary art.
Who’s taking part in the talk
After the screening, writer and journalist Beatriz Serrano will discuss the film’s themes with Las Entendidas—the collective programming the cycle—covering everything from its critique of capitalism to its use of colour and sound as narrative elements. Serrano, a specialist in culture and gender, will provide a contextualised reading of Strickland’s work, known for films like «Berberian Sound Studio» and «The Duke of Burgundy».
