The Aula de Narratives at the University of Valencia closes its October programme with a literary colloquium featuring Alana S. Portero. The event will take place on 27 October 2026 at 19:00 at the Centre Cultural La Nau, where the author will present her latest work, Cosamala, in an open dialogue with the public.
Who is Alana S. Portero
Alana S. Portero (Madrid, 1978) is a writer, poet, and activist. Her literary debut, La mala costumbre (2023), established her as an essential voice in contemporary narrative. The novel, translated into 17 languages, tells the story of a trans girl’s childhood and adolescence in a Madrid neighbourhood, exploring her identity, first love, and the violence of an environment that fails to understand her. Portero has contributed to poetic anthologies and collaborated with media outlets such as El Salto and Píkara Magazine, blending literature with social reflection.
What will be discussed at the event
The colloquium will focus on Cosamala, her new work. Though the official synopsis has not been revealed, the book continues the introspective line of La mala costumbre, exploring—according to the author—"the fragility of bodies and the wounds left by time". The discussion will be moderated by Cristina García Pascual, a professor at the UV and head of the Aula de Narratives, who has previously introduced Portero at other literary forums.
Tickets and entry
Admission is free, but advance registration is required via the official Aula de Narratives website. Seating is limited, so early booking is recommended. Entry will be granted in order of registration.
