What film is being screened
The 2026-27 Cinema and Human Rights Cycle presents «El techo amarillo», a 2022 film by Isabel Coixet, produced in Spain with a runtime of 94 minutes. The documentary explores the case of nine women who, in 2018, reported two of their teachers from the Aula de Teatro de Lleida for sexual abuse committed between 2001 and 2008, when they were adolescents. The complaint was filed after the statute of limitations had expired, and the case was dismissed.
Who organises the cycle
The Cinema and Human Rights Cycle is an initiative by Amnistía Internacional València in collaboration with the Aula de Cinema of the Universitat de València. According to the organisation, it has spent over a decade using cinema as a tool for raising awareness and fostering debate on human rights.
What to expect from the session
After the screening of «El techo amarillo», a debate is usually held with experts, such as university lecturers, journalists, activists, legal professionals, or NGO members, who analyse the film’s political, legal, and social context. The audience is also encouraged to participate in the discussion.
