What the workshop involves
The workshop-tour «Diseña tu azulejo» at Museu de Ceràmica de Manises combines a guided tour of the tile panels on display—explaining their historical use and production—with a hands-on session. Participants paint a clay tile inspired by the museum’s models or spooky Halloween designs. The museum provides materials and templates, but free designs are also welcome.
Who it’s for
This activity is aimed at families with children aged 6 and over, who must be accompanied by an adult. According to the museum, it’s suitable for school groups, adults, and people with special needs, though this Halloween edition focuses on families.
How to take part
The activity is free, but advance booking is required by emailing mncas@galipat.es. The museum doesn’t specify capacity, but previous editions have included multiple sessions to ensure participation. It’s unclear whether painted tiles can be taken home or require firing afterwards.
Historical context
The Museu de Ceràmica de Manises houses one of the most important collections of Valencian tiles, showcasing the city’s ceramic tradition from the 18th to 19th centuries. The tour highlights the decorative and functional uses of tiles, from kitchen coverings to artistic panels.
