What’s being debated
The event «Arendt sobre la arquitectura» examines Carlos Lacalle’s book of the same name (Editorial Reverté) to explore the connection between Hannah Arendt’s political philosophy and the spaces we inhabit. Moderated by Miriam Bermejo, the discussion centres on two key questions: what political theory can contribute to the design of cities and buildings, and how architecture reflects our way of living together. The book, which anchors the debate, features essays reinterpreting Arendtian concepts—such as the vita activa or the public sphere—through architectural practice.
Who’s taking part
Carlos Lacalle, architect and author of the book, and Miriam Bermejo, philosopher and editor, will discuss Arendt’s legacy and its application to contemporary issues, from gentrification to the crisis of public space. Lacalle, known for his work in urban theory, has previously published on the political dimension of built environments. Bermejo, a specialist in modern thought, will provide insights into how architecture can be a political act.
