Alicia Kopf and the Escrituras cactus cycle at IVAM
The Institut Valencià d’Art Modern (IVAM) is organising the Escrituras cactus cycle, a space for literary reflection centred on the figure of Valencian sculptor Julio González. The session on 11 November 2026 will feature Alicia Kopf, a writer and artist known for works like Brother in Ice, where she blends narrative, essay, and art. Kopf is part of a programme that brings together authors such as María Negroni, Andrés Neuman, and Estela Sanchis, who, through talks and texts, analyse González’s influence on contemporary art.
Curated by Jorge Carrión and moderated by Berta Ferrer, the cycle includes both in-person encounters and the publication of a book featuring the generated texts. This initiative is part of the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of Julio González’s birth, offering an interdisciplinary perspective that connects literature and art.
Session details
The 11 November event will focus on Alicia Kopf’s work and its relationship with art. Kopf, winner of the Premio Documenta de narrativa and the Premio Llibreter, brings a unique perspective where writing engages with the visual. Her contribution is part of a programme that seeks to reinterpret art history through literature, using Julio González’s work as a focal point.
