What is Vapors of Morphine
Vapors of Morphine is a power trio paying tribute to the legacy of Morphine, the pioneering low rock band founded by Mark Sandman, who passed away in 1999. Led by saxophonist Dana Colley—an original member of Morphine—the group combines electric baritone saxophone, two-string slide bass, and drums to recreate the band’s signature sound: minimalist, dark, and rhythmic. Their setlist includes Morphine classics, selected covers, and new original material.
Who’s performing
The concert at 16 Toneladas features Vapors of Morphine, with Dana Colley on baritone saxophone, backed by musicians who preserve the essence of low rock. Colley co-founded Morphine in 1989 and, after Sandman’s death, continued exploring this unique sound. The group isn’t just a tribute act: as stated on their official website, they expand Morphine’s sonic palette with new compositions and arrangements.
