A Baroque concert in Sala Iturbi
On 6 November 2026, Palau de la Música de València will host a performance of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Magnificat in D major BWV 243, one of the masterpieces of sacred Baroque music. The concert, part of the symphonic subscription series, will be performed by Orquestra de València and Cor de la Generalitat Valenciana, under the baton of conductor Rinaldo Alessandrini, a specialist in early music.
Musical programme
The repertoire includes:
- Cantata "Meine Seel erhebt den Herren" BWV 10 (the German version of the Magnificat).
- Overture No. 3 in D major BWV 1068, an orchestral suite featuring its famous Air for strings.
- Magnificat in D major BWV 243, a work for choir, orchestra, and five vocal soloists.
Guest soloists
The vocal ensemble features internationally renowned performers:
- Emöke Baráth (soprano I).
- Teresa Iervolino (soprano II).
- Cameron Shahbazi (alto).
- Jorge Navarro-Colorado (tenor).
