What is the Spanish Karate Championship 2026
The Campeonato de España de Kárate Cadete, Júnior y Sub-21 is the most important national competition for young karatekas in these age categories. Organised by the Royal Spanish Karate Federation (RFEK) and the Federation of Karate of the Valencian Community (FKCV), the event will bring together athletes from all over Spain to compete in kata (forms) and kumite (sparring), as well as Para-Karate events for athletes with disabilities. According to the FKCV, the competition aims to combine high performance, training and inclusion, bringing grassroots karate closer to Valencian fans.
Who competes and in which categories
The competition is open to karatekas in the cadet (14-15 years), junior (16-17 years) and under-21 (18-20 years) categories. The events will include:
- Kata individual and team: technical demonstration of pre-established movements.
- Kumite individual and team: sparring between two athletes.
- Para-Karate: adapted for athletes with disabilities, with specific categories based on the degree of functional diversity.
The FKCV highlights that the event will serve as a platform to detect talent and train future national representatives, such as the five Valencian athletes who participated in the 2026 Cadet, Junior and Under-21 World Championship.
Schedule and access
The championship will take place from 27 to 29 November 2026 at the Pavelló Font de Sant Lluís, with morning and afternoon sessions. Entry will be free for the public, although the organisers may establish limited capacity or access priorities according to RFEK regulations. No prior registration is required to attend as a spectator.
The competition is aimed at federated athletes, coaches and the general public interested in karate. There are no age restrictions for spectators, but it is recommended to consult FKCV rules for large groups or organisations.
