What this talk is about
«Software libre como respuesta a la tecno-oligarquía» is a talk followed by a debate organised by GNU/Linux València together with Bloc de l'Estudiantat Agermanat at Casa de l'Alumne, Universitat Politècnica de València. The event is based on the idea that, in the face of the power concentration of big tech, citizens are not as defenceless as they seem. The philosophy and practice of free software can help regain technological and digital sovereignty.
The association explains that they are returning to UPV because they believe the university plays a key role in this area, and they want to address both students and teaching staff.
Programme
According to the organisers, the session is divided into four parts:
- Introduction to key concepts of free software.
- Demonstration of practical tools that can be used straight away.
- Strategies to regain digital control.
- An open political debate on how to move towards real democracy based on peace, collaboration, and harmony.
The organisers also present the event as a space to meet people with shared interests.
Timing and access
The talk and debate are scheduled from 18:00 to 20:00, according to GNU/Linux València’s calendar, with free entry.
