A Classic Tragedy Through Flamenco
Ballet Flamenco de Barcelona brings its most ambitious adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare’s timeless work, to Valencia. Scheduled for 24 November 2026 at Teatre Talia, this production reinterprets the tale of love and conflict through flamenco, contemporary dance, and jazz. Choreographed by David Gutiérrez, the performance aims to convey the emotional intensity of the characters through movement, live music, and minimalist staging.
Unlike other versions, this production goes beyond simply retelling the plot. It delves into universal themes such as the clash between love and hatred, family tensions, and the search for identity. The original score by Iban Pérez and lighting design by Carlos Nava enhance the dramatic atmosphere, while the cast—led by Carmen Orts, Carlos Ruiz, and Alejandro Cabrera—brings the protagonists to life with a physical language that blends tradition and avant-garde.
