What is Ram Session: La Xica + Josep María Cendra
Ram Session: La Xica + Josep María Cendra is a feminist and regional music session bringing together two artistic proposals with Valencian roots. La Xica—the stage name of composer, violinist, and singer Marina Bolea—presents her personal project, Alabatre, an album composed and performed by her with a string quartet. Josep María Cendra reimagines Valencian musical tradition through a queer, transfeminist, and anti-capitalist lens, combining music, poetry, and performance in an interdisciplinary piece that invites both dance and reflection.
Who’s performing
La Xica (Marina Bolea) is a Valencian artist trained in classical music who has collaborated with groups like La Fúmiga, Tremenda Jauría, and Auxili. In 2025, she launched her solo project, La Xica, with the album Alabatre, produced by Jota Terranegra and Ariana Abecasis. Live, she performs with a string quartet featuring Cecília Sánchez, Cristina Koch, and Alexandre Tormos.
Josep María Cendra blends Valencian tradition with queer activism in a scenic proposal featuring Blanca González on piano, Marta Caballero in dance and performance, and Mari Pérez on vocals. According to the organisers, the project "explores different ways of loving—from pure beauty to raw pain—in a context that encourages dancing."
