What is Raíces and who performs it
Raíces is a musical and theatrical show created and performed by Strad & Cía., the trio formed by Jorge Guillén STRAD, Benjamín Andrea, and Vicente Hervás. The piece tells the story of the discovery of letters and recordings by Lucy Bernhardt, a European biologist who travelled across Spain in 1931 studying trees and cultures. Through her voice and journeys across Galicia, Andalusia, Aragon, and the Basque Country, the band weaves a sound map that fuses Celtic, flamenco, Mediterranean, and rock roots, connecting past and present with humour, emotion, and poetry.
Programme and style
The show is structured as a journey through time and landscapes, where each scene acts as a bridge between 1930s Europe and today. From Galician fire to Andalusian sun, passing through Dalí’s surrealism or Aragonese jotas, Raíces celebrates cultural diversity and our connection to the land. The live music, performed by the three artists, serves as the thread linking Lucy’s stories with reflections on memory, creation, and hope. It’s not a typical concert but an experience blending theatre, music, and visual storytelling.
Prices and tickets
Tickets for Raíces start at €22, depending on seating. The show begins at 20:00 at Teatro Flumen. The venue’s website notes that some premium stalls may be sold out, so availability should be checked before purchase.
