What the piece explores
«Proves nocturnes de vol» uses the bat as a starting point to delve into the limits of human perception and our relationship with nature. Santiago de la Fuente and the company Zona Grisa create a contemporary dance proposal that questions our certainties about the natural world. The bat’s nocturnal flight—its echolocation, its unique evolution—serves as a metaphor for the unknown. The piece is part of La Mutant’s 2026-2027 season, which kicks off on 28 October with other scenic proposals.
Who creates it
Choreographer Santiago de la Fuente presents this work alongside Zona Grisa, a collective working at the intersection of dance, performance, and visual arts. De la Fuente has developed projects exploring animality, myth, and science, as seen in this piece, where the bat—linked to legends like that of Jaume I or figures like Dracula—becomes a symbol of resistance and adaptation.
