What is Modo Libre
Modo Libre is a collaborative musical project founded in 2019 in Santa Clara (Cuba) by musicians Jonás E. Pérez Rodríguez and Yasel E. Giralt Barrios. Their proposal explores Cuban indigenous rhythms—such as son, bolero, or timba—and fuses them with genres from other origins, from jazz to African music. The format is flexible: although they usually perform as a quartet, the group varies depending on collaborations, prioritising exchange between artists.
Who is performing
The creative core of Modo Libre is formed by Pérez Rodríguez and Giralt Barrios, both multi-instrumentalists and composers. In their concerts, the group incorporates guest musicians, ensuring a different repertoire at each performance. In Valencia, they will perform as a quartet, although the names of the additional members for this session have not been confirmed.
Programme and style
The concert at La Batisfera will include original pieces from the project, characterised by their controlled improvisation and the blend of traditional structures with contemporary arrangements. As they describe on their social media, each performance is a "jam session with Cuban roots", where the spontaneity of live music coexists with the precision of Caribbean rhythms. There is no fixed setlist: the repertoire is built in the moment, though they usually include versions of Cuban classics and original compositions.
Prices and tickets
General admission costs €10 and grants access to the full concert. Tickets are available on platforms like Bandoticket and Entradium. It is not specified whether the price includes a drink or if there are reduced tickets for minors or students.
