What you’ll learn in the workshop
The Modernist Calligraphy Workshop teaches the essential forms of Art Nouveau and Art Déco applied to the alphabet, using a real calligraphy nib. According to instructor Nico Barrios, the approach combines technique and intuition, perfect for those wanting to explore this artistic style without prior knowledge.
Materials and requirements
The workshop includes all necessary materials (nibs, ink, and paper). Attendees may bring their own tools if they wish to try them or ask questions. There’s no age limit, but places are limited: registration is confirmed upon payment of €40.
Schedule and duration
The session takes place on Saturday, 24 October 2026, from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM (2 hours and 30 minutes). The format is in-person at Estudio 64, a bookstore-gallery specialising in illustration located in Benimaclet.
Who teaches the workshop
The workshop is led by Nico Barrios, a traditional sign painter, designer, and calligraphy researcher. Barrios has taught similar workshops in Alicante with positive feedback, known for his practical and accessible approach.
