What is «Los 3 tenores. Una historia cantada»
«Los 3 tenores. Una historia cantada» is a theatricalised lyric gala recreating the historic concert that Plácido Domingo, José Carreras and Luciano Pavarotti performed in 1990 at the Baths of Caracalla (Rome). The show, starring Alain Damas, Víctor Díaz and Francisco Ortiz, revives that legendary night with opera arias, Neapolitan songs and popular melodies that defined an era. The production combines live music—featuring pianist Takashi Koizumi—and theatre to showcase the human side of the artists: their rehearsals, differences and camaraderie.
Who performs
The show features three Spanish tenors: Alain Damas, Víctor Díaz and Francisco Ortiz, accompanied on piano by maestro Takashi Koizumi. The trio pays tribute to the voices that popularised opera in the 1990s, with a repertoire spanning from classics like Nessun dorma to beloved tunes such as O sole mio.
Programme and duration
The performance lasts 120 minutes, including an interval. The programme alternates between grand opera arias, Neapolitan songs and melodies that have become part of collective memory, such as Granada and La donna è mobile.
