What is the Lorenzo Bellini Quartet
The Lorenzo Bellini Quartet is a contemporary jazz group formed by four young musicians. Their album Source (2025, Gleam Records), described by All About Jazz as a session of "great quality" that balances melodic structure and improvisational freedom, defines their sound: unpredictable harmonies, dynamic rhythms, and the compositional personality of Lorenzo Bellini, the pianist and leader of the quartet.
What you’ll hear at the concert
The setlist for the concert at Jimmy Glass will focus on tracks from Source, where the quartet explores the tension between written composition and collective improvisation. According to critics, Bellini’s ability to create unusual melodies within complex structures stands out—a hallmark of his approach in today’s jazz scene. The event is part of the Weekend Of Festival section of the Jimmy Glass Jazz Festival, which has previously featured artists like Greg Osby and Perico Sambeat.
