Iranian cinema through a female lens
The Dona’m Drets cycle, organised by Dona i Cinema, closes its October programme with a session dedicated to films by Iranian women directors. On 28 October 2026 at 19:00, the Octubre Centre de Cultura Contemporània (OCCC) will host the screening of six short films exploring the realities and experiences of women in Iran from different perspectives. The works combine fiction, documentary, and animation, with a total runtime of around 70 minutes.
The selection
These are the short films on the programme, all directed by women:
- Mr. Manouchehrde (Elmira Azad, 12 min, fiction).
- Birthday (Raheleh Karami, 13 min, fiction).
- No Name (Setareh Arvin, 13 min, fiction).
- The Mirror (Shiva Kazemi, 14 min, fiction).
- We Are Here (Farzaneh Foroozesh, 12 min, documentary).
- In Captivity of a Finger+2 (Zahra Shafiei Dehaghani, 4 min, animation).
The screenings will be in the original language (Persian) with English subtitles. After the session, there will be an open debate with the audience, though the presence of the directors has not been confirmed.
