What will be discussed
Layla Martínez, editor and author of works such as Utopía no es una isla (2020) and the novel Carcoma (2021) —translated into 19 languages and adapted for theatre in four countries— will engage in conversation with writer and screenwriter David Pascual (Mr. Perfumme) about the core themes of her writing. Terror, historical memory, class violence, and oral tradition intertwine in her texts to propose new ways of storytelling. The session will delve into how fiction can serve as a tool to question and rewrite inherited narratives, using genre as both a political and narrative device.
