What’s being read and who’s guiding it
The dramatic reading club will analyse «Barahúnda», a play by Isabel Caballero born from the II Insula Dramataria Playwriting Lab Josep Lluís Sirera, organised by the Institut Valencià de Cultura (IVC). The piece, directed by Gemma according to the IVC, is set in a rural house in La Mancha where two tourist couples with everyday ailments are welcomed by a hostess who triggers an eventful weekend. The author, Isabel Caballero, will lead the session.
Origin and format of the club
This event is part of the activities at the Centre Cultural Escorxador, which, according to the Valencia City Council, combines literary reading clubs with theatre creation workshops. The text of «Barahúnda» —selected for its connection to contemporary Valencian playwriting— is approached from a practical perspective: attendees read excerpts aloud and discuss its structure, characters, and potential stagings, with no prior preparation required.
