Who is Dorantes
Dorantes (David Peña Dorantes, Lebrija, 1969) is the flamenco pianist who revolutionised the genre by incorporating the piano as a solo instrument. Nephew of El Lebrijano and grandson of La Perrata, he belongs to a legendary flamenco lineage. Trained at the Superior Conservatory of Music in Seville, his musical language blends flamenco tradition, jazz and chamber music, creating a unique and virtuosic style.
What we’ll hear at the concert
Dorantes’ programme at Fundación Bancaja includes flamenco styles such as rondeña, soleá, bulería, granaína, alegrías, siguiriya and tangos. The pieces revisit his life: from his childhood in Lebrija and the songs he heard as a child, to his move to Tomares at the age of 8 or his first steps with the piano. According to Fundación Bancaja, the concert is part of the Els Concerts a la Fundació cycle, organised in collaboration with Pavasal.
Timing and access
The concert starts at 20:00 on 23 October 2026. Tickets are sold online on the Fundación Bancaja website and at the physical box office. Duration and access requirements are not specified.
