What is «Geografías del ritmo»
Daniela Ocampo, a Colombian pianist based in Spain, presents «Geografías del ritmo», a concert exploring the fusion between jazz and Latin American rhythms. The repertoire includes original compositions and arrangements blending sounds from the Caribbean, flamenco, and contemporary jazz, with influences from artists like Chucho Valdés and Esbjörn Svensson. According to the Circuit Viu organisers, the show aims to "map a sonic journey across continents", combining improvisation with traditional melodic structures.
Who is performing
The main artist is Daniela Ocampo, a pianist and composer trained at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, with a career spanning collaborations with symphony orchestras and jazz fusion projects. For «Geografías del ritmo», she will be accompanied by a rhythm section (bass and drums) and, in some pieces, a guest percussionist. The concert is part of the seventh edition of Circuit Viu, a festival coordinating the programming of 18 venues across the Comunitat Valenciana from September to November, showcasing live music in intimate spaces.
