What is the Cross Escolar Individual Municipal de València
The Cross Escolar Individual Municipal de València 2026 is the opening event of the Individual Municipal Cross-Country Championship, organised by the Federació d’Atletisme de la Comunitat Valenciana. It gathers around 450 athletes aged 8 to 17, from clubs and schools in Valencia and other municipalities in the province. Participants compete for medals in their respective age categories, marking the start of the school sports season.
Categories and participants
The competition is open to schoolchildren aged 8 to 17, divided into age-based categories. According to the organisers, the event is part of the XLV Juegos Municipales del Ayuntamiento de València, a programme that promotes grassroots sport in the city. Participants do not need to belong to a registered club—students from schools and colleges can enter, provided they meet the event’s requirements.
Schedule and event details
The competition starts at 10:15 AM at Estadi del Túria and will run until 1:00 PM. The event features an outdoor cross-country circuit adapted for the participants’ ages. While exact distances for each category have not been specified, the format follows standard cross-country races for schoolchildren, with short and technical routes.
Prizes and objectives
The top finishers in each category will receive medals, though it is unclear whether additional trophies will be awarded. Beyond competition, the event aims to promote athletics among young people, offering a sporting experience in an official venue like Estadi del Túria.
