What is the Copa del Rey de Voleibol
The Copa de Su Majestad el Rey is the most prestigious knockout tournament in Spanish men's volleyball. In its 52nd edition, held in Valencia from 4 to 7 February 2027, the eight best-ranked teams from the Men's Superliga after the first half of the season compete. The format, known as the KO tournament, pits clubs against each other in quarter-finals, semi-finals, and a final over four days at the same venue.
The Pavelló municipal Font de Sant Lluís hosts the event again after the 2026 edition, where the final set an attendance record with 6,215 spectators. This is the third time the Comunitat Valenciana has hosted the championship, which traces its roots to an embryonic tournament held in Valencia in 1960.
Who organises it and what’s new
The Real Federación Española de Voleibol (RFEVB) organises the event with support from Valencia City Council, the Generalitat Valenciana, the Provincial Council of Valencia, and the Valencian Volleyball Federation. The main novelty in 2027 is the MiniCopa del Rey, a parallel tournament featuring cadet teams from the clubs competing in the senior category. This initiative aims to promote grassroots volleyball and give visibility to youth teams.
How the tournament works
The eight qualified teams compete in direct knockouts: quarter-finals (4 and 5 February), semi-finals (6 February), and the final (7 February). The draw pairs teams based on their Superliga standings, with the first-placed team facing the eighth, the second facing the seventh, and so on. Each match is played as a best-of-three sets, with a decisive fifth set if the score is tied at two.
The 2026 final, held at the same venue, crowned CV Teruel as champions after defeating Unicaja Costa de Almería in a match decided by a tie-break (25-23 in the fifth set).
