Who’s performing
Carmen Linares, a flamenco singer born in Linares (Jaén) in 1951, presents a reimagining of her album Antología de la mujer en el cante (1996) in Valencia. The record is considered one of the ten best flamenco albums of all time. Linares, a key figure of the generation that shared the stage with Camarón, Paco de Lucía, and Enrique Morente, is joined by guitarists Salvador Gutiérrez and Edu Espín, backing vocalists Ana María González and Rosario Amador, and artistic coordinator Miguel Espín Pacheco.
What’s on offer
The concert celebrates the 30th anniversary of Antología de la mujer en el cante, a project that honours the legacy of singers like La Niña de los Peines and Tía Marina Fesol. The programme includes 27 pieces created or popularised by women over a century and a half of flamenco history, spanning classic styles to lesser-known works. According to the organisers, the performance blends historical rigour with Linares’ intense interpretation, who has previously reworked poetry by Federico García Lorca and Manuel de Falla in her projects.
Timing and duration
The concert starts at 8:00 PM as part of the Els Concerts a la Fundació series organised by Fundación Bancaja. While the exact duration isn’t specified, events in the series typically last between 90 and 120 minutes.
Prices and tickets
General admission is priced at €10, a single rate with no seating distinctions. The series, now in its tenth edition, has drawn over 30,000 spectators to flamenco, jazz, and classical music concerts since 2016.
