What is Basura Post Punk
Basura Post Punk is a musical and cultural project from Argentina, curated by Sergio Rotman (Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Cienfuegos) and Asia del Sur (DJ and percussionist from Prado Town). It blends live vinyl sessions with concerts, championing DJ culture and the connection between artists and audiences. The event at 16 Toneladas includes a DJ set by Rotman and Asia del Sur, plus a live performance by Los Darwin, a Valencian band mixing alternative rock, indie, and post-punk.
Who’s performing
The DJ set is led by Sergio Rotman, a key figure in Argentina’s alternative scene with over three decades of experience, and Asia del Sur, whose musical selection defines the project’s eclectic style. The night culminates with Los Darwin, a Valencian band fusing alternative rock, post-punk, indie, and pop, drawing influences from new wave and Argentina’s underground tradition.
Musical style and connections
Basura Post Punk isn’t just about post-punk: its sonic universe spans dub reggae, punk rock, glam, and analogue electronics, linking the alternative sounds of the 80s with today’s scene. According to the organisers, the project aims to "celebrate alternative culture without labels or borders," embracing the music that shaped generations.
