What this concert celebrates
The 55th Anniversary of Orfeó Valencià and Casal de la Pau commemorates two parallel journeys in Valencian society: the choral music of Orfeó and the social support of Casal de la Pau, an organisation working with vulnerable communities. The concert, in aid of their projects, also marks 40 years of Josep Lluís Valldecabres as the choir’s musical director.
Programme and works
The concert is structured in two parts. The first pays tribute to Valldecabres’ early years leading Orfeó Valencià and features works by Johannes Brahms, Gabriel Fauré and Clara Schumann, composers linked to his beginnings as a conductor. Highlighting the programme is Brahms’ Liebeslieder Walzer, which requires piano accompaniment for four hands.
The second part revisits four decades of the choir’s repertoire, featuring songs by composers who have shaped its history. 90 choristers take part, conducted by Valldecabres and accompanied on piano by Jesús Debón and Marisa Blanes.
Timing and duration
The concert begins at 11:30 in the Sala Iturbi at Palau de la Música. According to the organisers, it lasts approximately 90 minutes, with no interval.
