It is the Holy Week of Valencia's seaside districts: it grew out of the faith of families who lived from the sea and is held in El Grau, El Canyamelar and El Cabanyal. It has been a Festival of National Tourist Interest since 2011 and holds the city's Gold Medal since 2016. This year it runs from 19 March to 28 March.
The big days
The highlights are the Maundy Thursday processions, the Holy Burial on Good Friday, in which every brotherhood takes part, and the Resurrection Parade on Easter Sunday, which closes the week with the brotherhoods dressed for celebration.
Statues kept in private homes
One of its peculiarities: many statues are not kept in a church but in private homes, which open their doors to visitors during those days.
Getting there
The events take place between the port and the beach. Take the metro and tram to the El Grau and El Cabanyal stops, such as Marítim or Grau-La Marina, or an EMT bus; the transport map shows real-time arrivals.
