What’s being performed
Swan Lake is the quintessential classical ballet, with music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and a libretto by Vladimir Begichev and Vasily Geltser. The Imperial Heritage Ballet presents a production faithful to the original choreography by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov, first premiered in 1877 at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. The plot follows Prince Siegfried, who falls in love with Odette, a young woman transformed into a swan by the spell of the evil Rothbart. The arrival of Odile, the Black Swan, sets off a game of illusion and betrayal that culminates in a dramatic ending.
Who’s performing
The Imperial Heritage Ballet is an international company founded by a European producer, made up of dancers from different nationalities. Their approach combines the technical rigor of classical ballet with an accessible staging, known for its realistic scenery and elaborate costumes with handcrafted details. The choreography demands precision in movements—especially in the Dance of the Little Swans, one of the most challenging passages in the repertoire—and harmony in the corps de ballet.
