The XII Festival de Cinema Ciutadà Compromés dedicates a session to exploring reality through short films with the screening of three thought-provoking works. The event takes place on 11 September at 11:00 am at CC Nave3 Ribes, as part of a festival running from 14 to 28 October in Valencia.
What’s being screened
The session brings together three short films with distinct approaches to memory, reconstruction, and social issues:
- El lento camino de la reconstrucción: lecciones desde Alemania: Directed by Jorge Alacid and Amalia Yusta, this documentary follows reporters on their journey to the Ahr Valley (Germany), an area devastated in 2021 by a flood similar to the one that struck Valencia. Through testimonies and footage, the short film examines the progress and challenges of a reconstruction that, years later, is still ongoing.
- Las cuentas pendientes de Campanar: An audiovisual portrait of the issues and demands in the Campanar neighbourhood, addressing topics such as urban speculation, historical memory, and community activism.
- 20:11: A short film—whether fiction or documentary, sources do not specify its plot—that is part of the festival’s official selection.
Timing and access
The screening starts at 11:00 am, and entry is free, with no prior booking required. The festival, organised by ACICOM (Associació Ciutadania i Comunicació), aims to bring social and committed cinema to the public, using audiovisual language as a tool for debate and transformation.
